Is it Still Breaking News?

I’m not sure that the coronavirus or daily White House briefings are still “breaking news” at this point.

But it seems that cable news sure thinks it is.

Local news is also on the breaking news bandwagon:

Maybe while we are in a global pandemic, cable news and local stations can back off on the “breaking news” hype and save it for something that truly is breaking.

How about calling the daily briefings a “Live Event” or “Live Update” and leave the breaking news to the real stuff?
