This is a Big Fear for Those Working in TV News
/FTVLive has brought this up before and we to continue to shine a light on it, because media companies need to be better.
WLOX (Biloxi) Anchor/Reporter Alison Spann posted this tweet about her employer Gray Television, but it applies to other media companies as well:
Stations are asking news crews to be on the front lines of the coronavirus coverage, but then basically telling people, if you get sick we are not going to pay you.
Even if Span doesn’t get the virus, if she comes in contact with someone that does have it, she will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days and will be paid for 3.
Companies like Gray and others need to pay employees the entire time they are away from work.
This we will only pay you the PTO days you have stored up is complete bullshit.
You are asking crews to put themselves in danger of getting the coronavirus and then not standing behind them if they do.
Be Better.
