The Lemmings in Buffalo TV News
/Walk into a newsroom and you will see TV’s on the wall. One TV will be tuned to the station’s channel and the other TV’s will be tuned to the competition.
It has been this way for decades, stations always keeping and eye on each other to see what they have, and what you might have missed.
But, now it is not just the competitions’ TV channel you watch, you also have to keep an eye on their social media.
At 6 AM, Tegna’s WGRZ puts up a post on Twitter saying that it is “National Wine Day”
The staff at Scripps owned WKBW sees the post by WGRZ and 24 minutes later, they this:
Obviously, someone over at Nexstar’s WIVB was asleep and it took them a bit to log on to the others social media. But finally they did so and at 7:45 AM the last lemming jumped off the cliff:
Some people say that local TV news looks too much the same.
Hmmmmm? I wonder why they say that?
