COVID in Burlington

We received an email from a station staffer at Nexstar’s WVNY/WFFF in Burlington, VT. that says they are concerned about COVID cases in the building.

This is a portion of that email:

There has now been two covid cases recently from people working in the building (one new one today), and we have had no mention of it from management, not even an email telling us what is happening and what they will be doing to stop the spread?

We have almost all of our reporters working in house, including anchors and meteorologists. We are the only station in the market with people working in person to this capacity. I wanted to email you since I find it appalling that upper level management has done nothing.

Seems they are all too busy taking vacations and traveling to care about the health of their employees.

It seems that as the pandemic months move on, many stations are letting up on their COVID safety practices. We hear reports of stations letting more and more people returning to the studio.

COVID is spreading faster now, than at any point during the pandemic. Yes, there is a vaccine in place, but we are months away from many of us getting the jab.

Stations should not be letting up, they should be continuing to keep safety measures in place. I think that after the holidays, we are due for another huge spike as many people ignored the guidelines and got together with family and friends.

Be safe, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but it is a really long tunnel.
