2020 will likely go down as the best year ever for all the cable news outlets, but it was a particularly good year for Fox News.

Thanks to a President that acts like a 5th grader and a global pandemic, Fox News will finish 2020 as most-watched basic cable network for 5th consecutive year.

It also becomes first cable news network ever to end the year with more than three million viewers in primetime.

Fox News actually beat the Fox Network and ABC in primetime for 2020.

CBS - 4,558,000 Total Viewers
NBC - 4,251,000 Total Viewers
FNC - 4,124,000 Total Viewers
ABC - 3,764,000 Total Viewers
FOX - 3,302,000 Total Viewers

In 2021, we look for cable news to continue to be strong for the first few months and then will slip back to a more “normal” viewing pattern later in the year.

An out of control President and a virus was a big boom to cable news.

Hopefully in 2021, we will see both of these things change.
