Today's the Last Day

This is the last day of the November rating book and that means that until February, you will not see any longtime news anchors announcing their retirements, which will be months away.

You won’t hear about how your favorite anchor just underwent life-saving surgery, is fighting cancer, depression, alcoholism, or any other “ism.”

Yep, the rating book is the place that TV stations are willing to do damn near anything to get viewers to tune in.

Many stations went so far as to bring their talent back into the station, instead of having them work remotely as they have been doing.

Yes, the pandemic is still here and it has actually, as predicted, has gotten worse. But, this is the all-important Fall book and to many in TV management, that is much more important than the health of the employees.

Don’t worry though, the Feb book is right around the corner and we will get to do it all over again.
