Shuffling the Anchors in Buffalo

It appears that Nexstar’s WIVB (Buffalo) is slowly making a change to their anchor team and doing it under the guise of COVID.

The station is pulling back the on-air schedule of longtime anchors Jacquie Walker and Don Postles.

The Buffalo News says that last week Walker and Postles anchored from Monday through Wednesday, with Christy Kern and George Richert taking over the main newscasts Thursday and Friday.

This week appears to be the same with Walker and Postles anchoring just Monday through Wednesday and then replaced on Thursday and Friday.

WIVB representatives declined to confirm the anchor schedule, but News Director Lisa Polster gave a vague answer via text about the plans.

“We’re adjusting the on-air schedule to keep everyone safe,” she wrote. “We are always reevaluating our processes to continue to keep the building as safe as possible.”

If the anchors are coming into the station on Monday-Wednesday and doing the newscasts, why can’t they come in on Thursday and Friday?

Does COVID just show up at the station at the end of the week?

How about having them work remotely?

I’m sorry, but there seems to be something else going on here and it does not seem that the station is being upfront about it.

Stay tuned….
