CNN for Sale, But Has it Hit its "Peak"?
/Word is that in an effort to pay down massive debt, AT&T is looking to sell CNN and has an active investor looking to buy.
"They need to cut costs. There's an active investor out there," said Fox Business Network senior correspondent Charlie Gasparino.
But, Gasparino thinks that CNN has hit its “peak” when it comes to ratings. "CNN does not have Donald Trump to kick around anymore and their ratings will take a hit," he told Tucker Carlson, given the current projected presidential election results.
Ummmm….I have news for you, Charlie, Fox News has had its best ratings in history because of Donald Trump and his antics, and your parent network Fox News will also see ratings fall in 2021.
The fact that cable news has ditched all coverage except for Donald Trump is going to hurt them. With Trump out of the White House, cable news will see their ratings comeback to earth.
Right now, Fox News is very worried about a number of their viewers leaving the network for the hard-right leanings Newsmax.
Don’t be surprised if Fox doesn’t outbid Newsmax to bring Donald Trump to their network and give him a show where he can talk about himself night after night.
As for who will buy CNN?
Some have floated the name, Amazon owner Jeff Bezos.
Whoever buys It, will have to do a lot of work trying to restore the CNN good name that Jeff Zucker drove into the ground.
Also, it will be interesting if the new owner at CNN, would pull back on the network’s media critics that obsess over Fox News on a daily basis?
No matter what, look for the cable ratings to fall back to lower levels in the second half of 2021.
Stay tuned…
