The Inbox....

FTVLive has been telling you about some news anchors that are moving into different roles at the station.

Most would say they were demoted, but the anchors like to spin it as something different.

One TV newsie decided to weigh in on that with this email to FTVLive:

Scott,

I love reading your blog every day, especially when you report on talent moving on or being demoted.

What I don't get is why the heck won't talent be honest with themselves and with the viewers.

Fact is, NO ONE is excited about going from MAIN anchor to an investigative reporter slot.  No ONE!

That move is the clear "you are free to go at any time, thanks," from management.

Plus during budget crunches those slots are usually eliminated.

"Thrilling new adventures on the horizon" - come on.

"A heartwarming bond with viewers" - any anchor will tell you they are the most disconnected of them all. (if they're being honest)

"My new role is an opportunity to do more research and dig deeper into issues."  PLEASE!

Also viewers aren't clamoring to find out "where so and so is ?" after they've disappeared from air.  And reading thru those posts you can clearly see the BS.

Truth is, this use to be a good paying job with some fun perks that came at a price like missed holidays, overnight work and weekends.

That is now over and for many younger people coming in to the business, just not worth the sacrifice.  Just ask them.  They're the first to ask anyone leaving for another job outside of news to "hook them up"

So tell the truth, it's freeing.
