FTVLive First told you that a “security guard” that was contracted by Tegna’s KUSA (Denver) shot and killed a man from point-blank range at a protest.

The station hired Matthew Dolloff to work security for one of its news crews. Dolloff got into an altercation with a protestor. The Protestor pulled out some mace and Dolloff pulled out a gun and shot the man.

Police arrested Dolloff for homicide. A KUSA Producer was in custody as well but was later released when it was determined that they were not involved in the shooting.

But now word is surfacing that the “security guard” was not licensed to be a security guard in the city of Denver.

“Security guards are prohibited from carrying or using a firearm without getting an armed firearm endorsement for their license. All security guards in Denver are required to get a federal background check before they receive their license,” said Eric Escudero, of the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses.

In other words, this one is going to get very costly for Tegna and KUSA.

KUSA has been hiring security guards to accompany their crews when they are covering protests. But, the fact that that may have hired and unlicensed security guard and did not check his qualifications or certifications could be setting the station up for legal action to be taken against them.

“We will forever be known as the TV station that killed a guy,” said one KUSA insider to FTVLive.

Doloff is being held on first-degree murder charges without bond.

Needless to say, some viewers are not real happy with the Tegna station:
