COVID at KIRO

It appears that the “Rona has made an appearance at Cox/Apollo in Seattle.

Here is the internal email that was sent to the staff and obtained by FTVLive:

Good evening everyone,

This evening I need to make everyone aware that one of our employees has notified us that they have tested positive for COVID-19 today and this employee is seeking medical attention.

This employee came into contact with a small number of KIRO employees inside the station and had contact with another employee who works outside the building.   Those individuals have been notified directly.   Specific areas where this employee spent time in the building have been shut off and will be deep cleaned and disinfected.   A thorough wipe down and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces in common areas also took place this afternoon.

The safety and wellbeing of our entire Seattle family continues to be our priority.  We continue to closely monitor Washington State Department of Health and the CDC regarding COVID-19 updates and follow their guidance with recommended safety practices.  As you know, most of our employees are working remotely until further notice to continue to lessen the number of people working in the station.  For those allowed to work in the station, you will notice our cleaning protocols throughout the day have continued and we will continue to take extra measures to insure the safety of all.  We also need for you to do your part to help maintain a safe and healthy work environment.   If you work in the building and are planning to travel out of town for vacation, you need to keep your manager informed of your plans to discuss any additional safety precautions that may be necessary prior to your return to the station.  Please remember to strictly follow CDC guidance for good hygiene practices listed below.  Please remember to check your temperature daily, at home before your leave for the station, or use the thermometer located at the table inside the main entrance of our building. If you have a temperature over 100.4 degrees do not enter the building and notify your manager.  If you feel ill while already in the building, notify your manager immediately and make arrangements to go home for the day.  If you have taken or are awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test, you must notify your manager.  We need EVERYONE to wear a mask when you enter the building, when you are not socially distanced by at least 6 feet from another employee and anytime you leave your desk or office and may pass someone in the hallways.  As we get into cold and flu season, in addition to Covid-19, these precautions are even more important.  Your health and safety remains our number one concern.

As a reminder, please wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

We have several hand sanitizing stations around the building. Use them. We also have distributed an additional supply of wipes and sanitizers.

Stay home when you are sick.  Do not return to work until you are well.

Practice social distancing.

Group meetings should be held virtually rather than in conference rooms.

Wear your mask.

If you believe you have been exposed to the Coronavirus, please notify your manager and your HRBP (Toni Mitchell) via phone and we will work with you confidentially on next steps. Or if you are more comfortable emailing CMG HR directly that address is AskCMGHR@CMG.com

Thank you for your continued support and please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
