Yesterday, FTVLive FIRST told you that the staff at KCBS/KCAL just got an email from News Director Tara Finestone that said she was leaving the station.

Working at a CBS O&O is a rocky ride these days with layoffs and pay cuts happening at an alarming rate.

Two days ago, FTVLive told you that Viacom/CBS CEO Bob Bakish sent an email top the employees saying that any merit raises are off the table, so don’t be expecting one.

CBS sources tell FTVLive KCBS General Manager Jay Howell was looking to make a change at the top of the news department. Word is that Finestone also felt frustrated with the CBS cuts and trying to run a major market news operation with a mid-market sized staff.

So, yesterday Finestone told the staff that she was leaving and she will not be unemployed for very long.

Sources say that Finestone will soon resurface at Cox/Apollo’s KIRO in Seattle.

She will replace John LaPorte, who barely made it a year at the station.

No official announcement yet, but it’s coming.
