Being First Instead of Being Right

Yesterday, FTVLive told you that WFSB (Hartford) Reported that high profile murder suspect, Fotis Dulos was dead after committing suicide.

Dulos is accused of killing his wife Jennifer. Dulos and the crime have been covered extensively by the media in Connecticut.

Later, after getting the egg of their face, WFSB then reported that Dulos was not dead and was still amongst the living.

It is a stupid mistake and sadly it appears that WFSB was not the only Connecticut media outlet to make it.

A number of people emailed FTVLive saying that other outlets, including the Hartford Courant, WTNH and others made the same mistake.

One person wrote FTVLive saying, “You’re picking on WFSB, but other TV stations reported that he was dead as well.”

Ummmm…. I’m sorry, but just because others did it, doesn’t make it any better.
