Signing Off in The Valley of the Sun

Longtime Sports Anchor Jude LaCava is leaving The Firm’s station in Phoenix.

The KSAZ Anchor says, “I think it’s almost like the sports analogy, you realize you’ve done everything you can do, and it’s time. I say that because I’ve been very, very fortunate and very blessed to have been in this market over 30 years.”

LaCava came to KSAZ in 1993, after four years in local radio. “I was lucky in a lot of ways — right place, right time, and in that sense fortunate,” he said.

Like any talent that leaves a station, LaCava wants people to know that he was not pushed and that it was HIS decision to leave (why does talent worry so much about that?). “They were supportive and understanding and realizing that things evolve,” he said of KSAZ management. “I think it’s called evolution — you have a natural progression of things.”

His last day on the air is April 1st.
