The Emotional Rollercoaster
/Well, it took till 4AM this morning, but Hurricane Dorian has finally arrived at the FTVLive World Headquarters.
When I woke up around 1AM to take Rory out and start working on this morning’s edition of FTVLIve, I expected it to be raining and windy.
But, when Rory and I walked out the door, it was a bit windy, but still dry.
Then at 4AM the rain came and came hard. This is still just the outer bands or Dorian and we expect the weather will keep going downhill from here for the rest of the day.
It seems like we waited forever for this storm to get here and it has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. One day, we were told that we were in danger, the next day, it would just graze us. It kept going back and forth.
You wondered what would happen?
It looks like the eye of the storm is going to pass by to our East. But, we will still be getting high winds and a LOT of rain. I’m not a meteorologist, but I think the big problem in this area is going to be water. The St. John’s River was very high yesterday and I expect that it will go higher. The storm surge on our coast could reach 7 feet and then there is the rain.
I expect like Irma, we will be dealing with flooding.
I’m hoping for the best and hoping that this very slow moving storm picks up the pace. The less time here, the less water we have to deal with.
Plus, I am scheduled to be on a flight to Texas tomorrow morning to go to RTDNA/NAHJ. I have a hotel room booked and it has a no cancelation policy. so, it’s either use it or lose it.
And to be honest, after all this waiting, watching and preparing for this storm, I could use a little break from Florida right about now.
Hopefully, we’ll see you on the other side.
Now, before I lose power, what do you say we do some news…..
