Nexstar’s WFLA (Tampa) got fooled by a fake video and it was more than embarrassing for the station.

The station did a lengthy Facebook live on “shark” sighting videos they received. WFLA even went so far to put the station’s chopper up, but did not see any sharks near the coast.

The station posted the video of the shark and credited the video to “Mike Honcho.”

If anyone at the station had watched the movie Talladega Nights, they would have known the name Mike Honcho from the movie.

Finally, WFLA decided to actually check with Florida Fish and Wildlife officials say videos of several reported “shark sightings” on Pinellas County beaches are a hoax.

Maybe that should have been the first call the station made.
