Here We Go Again...
/Just as the Nexstar stations get back to DirecTV after a two-month retransmission pissing match, Sinclair warns they might be up next.
Sinclair’s deal with AT&T ran out in August and the two sides are now working on a 5-week extension that is about to run out.
As Sinclair seeks to reach into customer’s wallets and take out some more money, it appears a good bet that they will go dark on DirecTV and the other AT&T’s systems.
That would mean that 136 Sinclair stations would not be seen by viewers along with the Tennis Channel. Then again, who gives a shit about the Tennis Channel.
IN a statement Sinclair said, “Despite the tremendous market power of AT&T, most consumers of AT&T and DirecTV do have some other alternatives to receive our in-demand programming. Although it would be unfortunate to lose AT&T and DirecTV as customers, we are simply not prepared to sell our programming to them at the below market rates they are demanding due to their overwhelming market power.”
“Below market rates”? But can’t viewers get your signal free over the air?
So, isn’t the market rate, actually free?
I always wondered why a station that offers their signal for free to viewers, wants those same viewers to pay more and more money to get that same signal in an easier way.
The greed continues as the rich want to get richer.
