Cheers in the Newsroom

When the word came down that Dorian was expected to make a turn and not impact South Florida, WTVJ’s Sheli Muñiz posted that there were “cheers in the newsroom”:

I’m glad South Florida is not going to get the wrath of Dorian, but while you guys are cheering, there are people in the Bahamas that are getting whacked hard and others of us here in Florida that are worried we might as well.

I’m not sure that cheers was the right response.

Also, WTVJ Weatherman John Morales scheduled his Facebook updates on this powerful storm, just so he could watch a soccer game in peace.

If I was the News Director, I might be having a little chat with the staff about what they are posting on social media.

Lives are at stake here!
