There is no doubt that TV news people are being asked to do more and more from their job.

Along with doing a package, Reporters are also required to write stories for the web and do Facebook lives, along with interacting with viewers on social media.

Well, it appears that at Tegna’s KHOU, news crews are also being asked to fill their pockets with station swag.

KHOU is asking viewers to download their new app, which will likely push useless stories to their phones.

Once they down the app, if they see a news crew out and out, they are told to run-up to the crew, show them they downloaded the app and they get a free KHOU pop socket!

Because. let’s be honest, who doesn’t want one of those?!

So now news crews will have to carry the pop sockets on them while out doing their jobs.

I can see it now, a KHOU Photographer in the middle of the highway shooting video of a double fatal and some kid jumps out of a nearby car and asks for a pop socket.
