It is Finally Time for Tribune Employees
/The people working at Tribune stations finally see the end.
They have watched their company file for bankruptcy, then get sold to Sinclair, then not to Sinclair, and then to Nexstar and now finally the deal is done.
Yesterday, FTVLive told you that the FCC had signed off on Nexstar’s buying of the Tribune stations.
Nexstar had to part ways with 21 stations to get the deal done and the FCC signed off on that as well. Some of those stations will go to Tegna and the others will go to Scripps.
What does the sale mean for the Tribune stations?
At this point, it is too early to say.
Nexstar has mainly been in small and mid-markets and now acquires a number of stations in much bigger markets like LA and Chicago.
Will a small market operator that is known for running operations on the cheap be able to run big market stations?
That all remains to be seen.
Stay tuned…
