Tacking On Another Hour

With the 2020 election coming up, stations are busy adding newscasts.

You would hope that the extra news is there for the viewer to get even more information, but if you believe that you are living in fantasyland.

Stations are adding more news, because campaigns love to buy spots during newscasts. They believe that someone that watches TV news is more likely to be a voter, than someone watching reality TV shows.

So, TV stations are expanding their newscasts to give politicians more room to spend their money.

In other words, the extra news time is really just filler between the commercials. Sorry gang, this is how TV news works now-a-days.

The latest to add more news time is Meredith’s KTVK in Phoenix.

The station added an extra hour to their morning show and it now runs from 4:30am to 11 am.

Many times as stations add more news, they do not add many more bodies to the news department. IN other words, staff is asked top do more, with less. Not sure what KTVK did with their body count, but they did buy a cake.

TV Newsers loves their cake.
