Back on August 22nd, FTVLive told you that longtime WYFF Meteorologist John Cessarich is signing off from the Hearst station after almost 30 years.

Well, WYFF has found his replacement and they did not have to go far.

The station announced that Chris Justus has been named Chief Meteorologist.

Justus joined WYFF in 2013 as a meteorologist on the weekend 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Now he gets bumped up to the big chair.

“We understand how important accurate weather coverage is to our viewers, and we want to continue that commitment to excellence,” said WYFF 4 President and General Manager John Humphries. “Weather greats in this market like Charlie Gertz and John Cessarich have set a high standard. We’re confident Chris Justus will carry on the WYFF 4 tradition of market-leading weather coverage that viewers have come to trust and expect.”

“Chris grew up in this community and is invested in keeping people safe during severe weather,” Bruce Barkley, WYFF 4 News Director remarked. “With weather apps and social media on our phones, the way we get our weather has changed. Chris understands that, and he gives our viewers a transparent forecast no matter where they’re watching.”
