Longtime WYFF Meteorologist John Cessarich is signing off from the Hearst station after almost 30 years.
“For nearly three decades, viewers have trusted John during severe weather, snow storms and hurricanes,” said John Humphries, WYFF 4 president and general manager. “He has worked tirelessly to keep viewers safe and give them an accurate forecast. His dedication embodies everything we strive to be as journalists.”
He started at the station in 1991, before that, his career in started Chicago as a national weather reporter on the radio. His broadcast career Palm Springs, California to Albany, New York to Atlanta. Cessarich was also one of the first meteorologists hired to launch The Weather Channel in 1982.
Cessarich says he’s felt a personal connection to WYFF’s viewers and the community he’s called home since 1991.
“So many of you make me feel like I’m part of your family,” Cessarich says. “Where there’s severe weather, I want to make sure my community family, along with my immediate family, are safe. That’s how I’ve approached my weather forecasts, and I thank you for watching and trusting me all these years.”
“He’s been a trusted source for weather coverage, but he’s also an energetic personality in this market who viewers love to watch,” said Bruce Barkley, WYFF news director. “John is warm, friendly and will never turn down a good cake!”
Almost 30 years at the station and the best the News Director can come up with is that you “never turn down a good cake”?
