A couple of days ago, FTVLive FIRST reported that KYW General Manager Brien Kennedy is out the door at the CBS O&O in Philly.

Now others are catching up to FTVLive’s report.

The Philadelphia Business Journal got a one line quote from CBS saying, “Brian Kennedy is no longer with our company,” a CBS spokesman said. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Insiders tell FTVLive the move was sudden and and unexpected.

“We did not have a clue that it was coming,” said one staffer.

Then again, this is CBS, where turnover to management at both the GM and News Director level happens often.

In fact in the 4 years that Kennedy was at the station, KYW had three News Directors. The station also lost a number of front line talent as CBS offered them small raises or pay cuts to stay.

No word on who will be replacing Kennedy, but my advice to them is to rent and not buy.
