Back in June, FTVLive FIRST told you that Scripps’ WTXL had sacked News Director David Lee.

Now, the Tallahassee station has found a replacement for Lee and they did not have to go far to find them.

Vicki Bradley had been the acting News Director after Lee was shown the door. Now, she loses the “acting” tag and gets the gig full time.

Here is the internal memo that was sent to the staff by GM Matt Brown and obtained by FTVLive:

Team,

Please join me in congratulating Vicki Bradley as she accepts the role of News Director at ABC 27.

In the last 8 weeks as interim news director, Vicki has shown us that she has the integrity, passion and journalistic know-how to lead us to a new level of success. Many of you came to me during the last two months to share similar thoughts and support. She knows the importance of having a strong culture and high values – I’m excited to see how she evolves our news product.

I ask not only that you give her your support moving forward, but dedicate yourselves to helping us raise the bar of performance as journalists and members of this community.

For those of you who haven’t gotten to know Vicki yet, she is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University, with an accomplished career in news. Before coming to Tallahassee, Vicki was the news director at KYTX CBS19 in Tyler, Texas. Vicki has also worked as an assistant news director, EP and producer at WFMY News 2, WGHP FOX8 and WECT News in North Carolina. She is currently working on her master’s degree from Syracuse University.

Congrats Vicki!

Matt
