When WICS fired Weather Anchor Joe Crain for calling out parent company Sinclair, it became a nightmare for the station.

Viewers flooded the station with phone calls and on social media. Advertisers pulled their spots and protests sprung up across the market.

WICS went into damage control and that included reaching a settlement with Crain after firing him.

In a joint statement from WICS and Crain, they announced the two sides have resolved their differences, which likely forces Crain to not speak ill of the station.

The Sinclair station posted to their website that the resolution came “in a private agreement” and that both sides “will be moving on from their dispute.”

Both Crain and the station have not made any further comments.

The station is hoping that this will bring back the advertisers that left the station.

“Basically they paid Joe off to keep him quiet and hope it has all blown over,” said one station insider to FTVLive.

Crain called out Sinclair for the practice of issuing “Code Red” weather alerts. He was fired for doing so, despite the fact that Sinclair dropped the “Code Reds” after Crain’s rant.
