New News Director Named in LA
/An internal memo sent out to the staff at KNBC, informed them that Renee Washington is the station’s next News Director.
Washington had been the acting News Director since former KNBC ND Todd Mokhtari was bumped up to a GM job in San Diego.
There is little doubt that this industry needs for women and more people of color in leadership positions. Nice to see NBC make that happen in LA.

I am thrilled to announce that Renee Washington has been named Vice President of News for NBC4.
Renee joined us last fall and has done a wonderful job leading during the time when she was acting News Director. She is a very driven individual who is focused on winning at all times. She shares our vision of creating a newsroom that maintains our legacy of leadership and our tradition of excellence. She has been very insightful as we compete in the current marketplace and will be instrumental in helping us maintain our performance of the last few years. She is very receptive to new ideas and has expressed her appreciation over and over for our amazing culture here at NBC4.
Renee has worked in Philadelphia, New York and as the Assistant News Director at two Los Angeles stations. Renee’s experience as a news leader in major markets will enhance our already strong newscasts.
