Here We Go Again in Lexington
/Back in May, WLEX Anchor Lee Cruse was (finally) fired after he called a racist DJ his new “favorite.”
After his firing, his co-Anchor Hayley Harmon was allowed to go on the air and blubber about his firing and say why she thought it was the wrong decision by the station to fire Cruse.
Well, now Harmon is saying sorry for some racially charged comments that she made back just before Easter.
As the Lee Cruse story was blowing up, a viewer named Kivva Greenlee Williams posted a video to Facebook that Harmon downplaying a story in which an Easter candy seller pulled some chocolate ducklings from the the store’s shelves.
A dark chocolate duckling was named “ugly” as in the “ugly duckling.”
After blowback the store renamed the duckling and somehow this story was included on the Scripps station’s newscast.
Williams posted video of the story that included Harmon’s comments.
After Williams posted the clip, a number of other viewers weighed on on the Anchor’s comments.
It now appears that weeks after the comments were made on air, WLEX Anchor Haley Harmon is thinking differently to what she said on air. Or maybe the fact that her co-Anchor was just fired in a similar incident, she‘s a bit worried.
She reached out to the viewer that posted the video:
No word if Harmon and the viewer have talked, but one has to wonder what the hell is going on at WLEX and Scripps?
This is the second incident at the station in a matter of weeks and it is clear that the station needs to address these comments that their Anchors continue to make on air.
Stay tuned….
