The man that helped make WSVN a news powerhouse has died.

Bob Leider was Executive Vice President and General Manager at WSVN for years and helped make it a news force in South Florida.

Leider was not afraid to get his hands dirty either. During Hurricane Irma, Leider picked up a mop and helped get the water out of the station. “I always get crazy with water,” said Leider while mopping away flooding caused by Hurricane Irma.

He also slept on a cot along with the rest of the staff during around-the-clock hurricane coverage.

WSVN owner Ed Ansin remembered him as “the most wonderful person you could ever know. Just terrific in every way.”

The funny thing is that when I worked at WSVN, I never saw or talked to Bob Leider. But, years later Leider emailed me to say how much he enjoyed FTVLive and praised me for the website.

I told him that I never saw him or spoke to him in my time at the station. He replied, “I remember you.” I know he hadn’t, but that was him, he wanted to make you feel good and feel important.

Leider was also very involved in the community and Habitat for Humanity was very near and dear to his heart.

They sent out this tweet upon learning of his death:
