CBS Sees News Ratings Sink in the Morning
/CBS News awarded morning Anchor Gayle King with a fat new contract, by they might want to get a refund.
Since the network blew up the morning show…..again….the ratings for the struggling show have fallen even more.
With Norah O’Donnell bumped up to the Evening News and John Dickerson sent into the ether (both replaced by Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil) the ratings have dropped about 20%.
While the show was making a move when it was King and Charlie Rose, it is now headed the wrong way once again.
Rose was sacked for misconduct and he took the morning shows momentum with him out the door.
Forbes writes that King, O'Donnell and Dickerson last co-hosted together the week of May 6. The following week, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil joined Gayle King as co-hosts. Since then, the morning show's ratings have slipped from a total audience of 3.127 million viewers to 2.704 million viewers for the week of June 17, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen. That's a drop of 14%, with the falloff even more dramatic among the younger viewers coveted by advertisers: down 18% among viewers 25-54 and down 21% among viewers 18-49.
King has to be feeling the pressure after getting millions of dollars raise.
You have to wonder how long before CBS thinks it is time to blow up the show once again?
