ND Calls It Quits

Smack dab in the middle of the May book, a Scripps ND is calling it quits.

Carrie Hoffman, who has run KSHB-TV in Kansas City for the past six years, says she’s leaving and going to take the summer off.

Here’s the memo she sent to the staff just a few moments ago. Even though it says otherwise, we have to wonder if this was really ‘voluntary’?

I am leaving 41 Action News after 6 action-packed years.

I am ready for a new challenge and a new adventure. The way TV newsrooms work, you need to move to get that new opportunity. Most of you know, I am not willing to move out of Kansas City until my daughter graduates high school in 3 years.

The leadership at KSHB/Scripps tried their best to convince me to stay but my heart says it is time to move on. I am doing what is best for me and my family.

Together we have done amazing things, now it is time to pass the baton to someone new. I know the station has a bright future and I will be cheering you on. Thank you for all you have done to help the station succeed.

I plan to take the summer off, a rarity in this industry, to spend time at my lake home and do all the things I never took the time to do while working full time.

My last day will be on June 2nd.
