From PA to WV

A couple of days ago, FTVLive FIRST told you that WOWK (Charleston, WV) interim News Director Bill Berra was headed back to retirement in Florida.

Berra was brought in as a placeholder after the station parted ways with Grendel Levy.

Now Nexstar is moving WBRE (Wilkes-Barre) News Director Rob Jackson over to the West Virginia station. Jackson has been at WBRE for just over 3 1/2 years.

“My team at #wbrewyou has made such terrific progress in the past 3 1/2 years, tremendous growth in all day parts and am so proud of them!! Now I move on to WOWK, another #Nexstar station in Charleston, WV and we WILL do the same there!!” Jackson said on a social media post.

Here is the internal memo sent to the staff and obtained by FTVLive:

I am happy to inform you that Rod Jackson, News Director from our Nexstar stations in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA, has accepted the position of News Director for WOWK. Rod brings 40+ years’ experience with him to Charleston-Huntington. He has had great success in his career and we welcome him to his new home. Rod will be joining us in early June. Until he arrives, Bill Berra will continue to oversee the news operation.

I want to personally thank Steven Shaw for his hard work and dedication during this transition. His hard work, along with all of you, have really improved the station in the last 4+ weeks.
