Milwaukee ND Headed to Seattle

WITI Milwaukee News Director John LaPorte has handed in his resignation.

WITI GM Chuck Steinmetz confirmed to the staff in a memo that he was leaving. What the memo did not say was where LaPorte is headed.

Numerous sources tell FTVLive that LaPorte is going to be the new News Director at Cox’s KIRO in Seattle. He replaces ND Jake Milstein, who left the station last July after a decade at the station.

LaPorte spent just under 9 years at WITI, joining the station in 2010, coming from WEAU in Eau Claire.

Word is that KIRO was expected to make the official announcement that LaPorte is the new News Director on Monday.

But, since FTVLive is reporting it this morning, maybe they will move that up a bit.

If not, try to act surprised on Monday….OK?
