Back in the Chair? (Updated)

It appears that KRDO (Colorado Springs) News Director Mike Rausch is leaving, getting fired, or retiring.

The station has posted his job online.

“We are looking for someone with the proven ability to manage, coach, critique and motivate the news team to make our news programs the best and first choice for local news, information, weather and sports in our market,” the job posting says.

But, could the station’s next News Director already be in the building?

Remember the name Matthew Zelkind?

Zelkind was the longtime News Director at WKRN in Nashville. When he was let go from the station, he sued WKRN and a TV news blogger (not us) who reported on his ousting.

Well, after being out of the business for quite sometime, Zelkind very quietly resurfaced at KRDO as the station’s Executive Producer.

Word is that Zelkind has put his name in the hat for the ND job.

Also, remember the name Mark Pimentel? He was the GM of Meredith’s very troubled WGCL in Atlanta, before he was pushed out the door. He was the guy that brought Sharon Reed to Atlanta.

Now he’s is the GM of KRDO and the guy you need to send your resume to if you want the ND job.

Sharon Reed is leaving WGCL and KRDO needs a News Director. Do ya think……"?

Naw, it couldn’t happen, could it?

Update: Zelkind reached out to FTVLive and said that he has not put his name in for the ND job. Sharon Reed’s chances get stronger.
