Back on April 9th, FTVLive told you that Meredith’s WGCL (Atlanta) had cut ties with Chief Meteorologist Paul Ossmann.

It did not take the struggling station long to find a replacement.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Rodney Ho reports that the station has named Jennifer Valdez their new Chief Met.

Valdez has been at the station for about 11 years. She posted about her promotion to social media, “I feel excited, grateful and honored all at the same time,” she wrote.

Word is that some suits at Meredith were hoping that the gig would be going to Ella Dorsey, but Dorsey had a number of incidents in the past few weeks that insiders say got her name pushed down the list.

WGCL News Director Steve Doerr raved, “She’s terrific. It was a no brainer.”

And outgoing anchor Sharon Reed also gave her blessing to the Valdez promotion. “A ray of sunshine,” Reed said.

The station never commented as to why they parted ways with Ossmann?
