Yesterday, FTVLive featured a couple of TV news anchors that are trying their hand at podcasting.

It is smart for TV news people to branch out as this business is changing so fast.

Today, we want to pint you to another TV newsie that didn’t just dip their toe in the podcasting waters, she dove in head first.

Erica Mandy was working at KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles. For many, reporting in a top 5 market would be a dream job.

But, Mandy left the CBS O&O to strike out on her own and doing so with a podcast.

“I decided to take a risk and leave my reporting job at CBSLA (CBS2/KCAL9) in 2017 to launch a daily news podcast called the NewsWorthy,” Mandy tells FTVLive.

So what exactly is “NewsWorthy”? “It's all the day's news in less than 10 minutes in a more convenient, less depressing way. I call it "fast, fair and fun," she says.

She also says that her interaction with her podcast audience is cool, “I've never felt closer to the audience who turns to me for news,” she said to FTVLive. “It's been such an interesting, fun, challenging and rewarding journey, and I love seeing more and more people experimenting with the medium,” Mandy adds.

She has seen some success and adds, “I'm just getting started!”

That’s that attitude you need to have when you risk it all to go off on your own. Trust us, we know.
