When Cable News misses the News

When the explosions and mass casualties and deaths happened in Sri Lanka over the holiday weekend, CNN and MSNBC were very late to the coverage.

Fox News was the first cable news station to report the Sri Lanka bombings in the 1:30AM hour. They followed with alerts every hour at 2:30AM, 3:30AM, & 4:30AM.

Meanwhile, CNN didn’t mention the story until the top of their 4AM NewsHour.

MSNBC stayed in taped programming and only reported the news at 4:30AM/ET.

It used to be cable news was 24 hour news. But, after cuts to news to add more opinion crap, they should just cut “news” out of their name.

Props to FNC for at least having a news person on duty.
