Lack Of Leaders

WJAC (Johnstown, PA) General Manager Jim Doty left the Sinclair-owned station abruptly this week.

He has accepted the GM position at Scripps-owned KERO in Bakersfield. He told staff that the move was to be closer to family in California. Doty was the GM at WJAC for the past five years.

Sinclair owns the CBS/Fox duopoly in Bakersfield, so Doty will be competing against Sinclair there.

That leaves the Johnstown Sinclair station with a lack of leadership. The GM left this week. The News Director has been out on medical leave for the past few weeks. The Assistant News Director left some months ago to accept the ND gig at KRCG in the Columbia/Jefferson City, Missouri market and has not been replaced. We also hear that a Producer recently left the station.

Not sure who is running the newsroom, but it seems Sinclair should be doing some hiring to say the least.
