MMJ Breaks Leg Covering Story
/WTLV (Jacksonville) MMJ Bethany Anderson has not been on the air for the past few weeks after breaking her leg while covering a story.
The MMJ was sent alone to a bad part of town. While she was there, gunshots started flying in the area and Anderson broke her leg while trying to take cover.
She has not been seen on air since and she posted this to her Facebook page:
Last week in a news staff meeting at the Tegna station, General Manager Rob Mennie, News Director Joe Inderhees and a rep from HR came into the morning news meeting to talk about safety.
After the incident, the station told staffers that MMJ’s should not do door knocks by themselves and shouldn’t be in dangerous neighborhoods. Looks like the Tegna station is trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Sending a MMJ alone into this situation was a major screw up and only after someone is hurt, did the station address the situation.
As more stations continue to hire and use one man bands, stories like this will become more common.
Just saying….
