Tegna to Grow own Producers

FTVLive talks to a lot of News Directors each and everyday.

In almost every conversation that we have, the ND will ask us if we know any good Producers? It is the one job that stations have the hardest time filling and finding someone qualified.

Tegna has decided to stop searching for Producers and growing their own straight out of school.

The company posted this job opening for what they are calling “Producer-in-Residence/”

The goal is to hire kids, place them in Tegna stations in pairs and grow them into real Producers.

The kids will be placed one of three Tegna stations, which include KUSA (Denver), WKYC (Cleveland) and WTLV/WJXX (Jacksonville).

If you are one of those placed in Jacksonville, feel free to contact me, we’ll go to lunch and I will tell you how the business really works and how much more money Tegna should be paying you.

Don’t worry, we’ll go someplace fancy to eat.
