When Automation does Automate

When it works, automation is great. It says TV stations money and they don’t have to worry about some whiney Master Control operator clogging up the bathroom toilets.
But, when it doesn’t work, it’s like jumping out of a plane without a parachute.
Gray’s WDAM (Hattiesburg) has moved over to automation and this week it cost them.
The station’s morning newscast was scrapped as the station could not get the newscast on the air.
Morning anchor Mike McDaniel started streaming on Facebook live which was basically watching two guys on their phone or computer trying to figure out what to do.
