That's News?
/On Friday. FTVLive told you that WDAF (KC) Traffic Anchor Nick Vasos decided to email the station to say he was going to be sick. Problem was that Nick sent the “out sick” email to every Nexstar station in the country and those stations had a bit of fun poking Nick and his mistake.
FTVLive posted the story and clearly it was a good story for a website that focuses all of our attention on TV news and what happens inside stations and networks around the country.
It might have even been a fun story for WDAF in Kansas City to cover.
But, what about a national network newscast?
You have the entire world to cover and just a half-hour to do it. You have a President that is on the cusp of being impeached. You have a few members of Congress that ethics are a bit shady. A planet that is an ecological crisis and so many other big stories.
Surely the Traffic Anchor emailing out sick is not going to take up part of a network newscast with only a half-hour of news to fill?
Well, if you are last place CBS, I guess this is a big enough story to make the newscast. Also, I think they now know the answer as to why they are in last place?
One last thing….
A number of Nexstar stations did the story of Nick Vasos emailing in sick.
But, if the station fired Nick Vasos, we would have heard the line, “we don’t talk about personnel issues.”
Didn’t many of them just do that?
The hypocrisy of it all.
