All About Me and The Right Way
/While there is another mass shooting that the media is covering today in Fresno, let’s go back to last week’s mass shooting (yes they come this quickly now) and look at a couple of social media posts.
Both Lynette Romero and Wendy Burch work at KTLA in Los Angelas. Both were covering the shooting at the high school and both posted to Twitter.
Romero chose the “all about me TV” route and posted a picture of herself and what she did at the scene of the shooting.
Burch kept herself out of the picture and showed us the scene.
You can decide which example you should follow?
But remember, know matter how much you want it to be, you are not the story.
A Journalist is a trained observer. They are there to show us the scene and tell us what happened? You stay out of the story and as hard as it is, you detach yourself from the story while doing your job.
Same station, two tweets….I think you can tell which one I think is the more professional of the two?
