"I Made a Mistake"
/As someone that wakes up at 1AM each morning and starts work after just a couple hours of sleep, we get that mistakes happen.
Sophia Armata is the Weather Anchor at WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi.
She reported that the Mississippi State vs Tennessee State football game was happening last weekend, when in fact it wasn’t taking place until this week.
Armata works in the Weather Department and not the Sports Department. It was a bit embarrassing for her, but it was a mistake.
A viewer called her out and Armata responded.
Hey Jan! As a morning met, I wake up at 2am to start making your forecast. This morning, I made a big mistake... a mistake that you decided to film. Here’s to hoping that no one publicizes all of your future mistakes! It’s not a great feeling. Sorry for the mess up😊 https://t.co/yizqDVJ0AS

Look, everyone makes mistakes and I’m not going to take Sophia Armata to task for this one. I also think her reply, admitting it was a mistake was and that she did not feel good about it was also on the money.
But, she is a public figure and she made the mistake on TV. The viewer had every right to point out the mistake and hold her accountable. It was not trolling as much as it was calling a person on TV out for screwing up. That kind of comes with the job.
So, I think what the viewer did was absolutely fine and I think that Sophia Armata’s reply was very well done as well.
In other words, everyone involved did ok here, which is not often the case on social media.
