Calling Out Colorado Station
/Did a Colorado Springs station lump all “Asian Spas” in the same basket?
KRDO did a story that they titled “Asian Spas, Hiding in Plain Sight.”
Looking at the promo, the story seems to be about some local massage businesses that are dealing in human trafficking.
This was the tweet sent out by KRDO Reporter Stephanie Sierra:

But, KDRV (Medford, Oregon) Reporter Ashley Tsao brings up a very good point:
And KDVR Meteorologist Caitlin Harvey also agrees with her co-worker:
Yes, some “Asian” spas are dealing in human trafficking, so are many no “Aisian” spas. There are also a large number of Asian and no Asian spas that are legit businesses and run inside the law. With their title “Asian Spas, Hiding in Plain Sight” it’s like KRDO is saying that all “Asian Spas” are running afoul of the law.
They have grouped all these Asian businesses into the same basket.
A look at the KRDO on-air news team and it does not appear anyone is Asian and that could explain why KRDO was tone-deaf in their story title:
