KENS (San Antonio) Reporter Marvin Hurst broke the news to his followers on social media that he has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

Hurst discovered there was more to his nagging sinus infection just two days following Christmas Day. "I have a common and treatable form of throat cancer. It wasn't the after Christmas gift I was hoping for," he said.

Hurst began chemotherapy and radiation therapy right away. He told his followers on Facebook they may see him drop in weight due to the treatment since he was continuing his on-air job during that time.

"Don't feel sorry for me. Please feel excited for me to become a person on purpose with an ever growing lens on life fortified by fire," he said. "I have, after all, realized destinations are a chase strapped with a journey."
