Bar Fight Anchors are Bounced from the Station
/FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that the two WSAZ Anchors that were involved in a incident at a Charleston, West Virginia bar have been fired.
Sources tell FTVLive that both News Anchor Erica Bivens and Weather Anchor Chelsea Ambriz were called by station management yesterday and told that they were no welcome back to the station.
Their bios were then quickly scrubbed from the station's website.
Since FTVLive FIRST broke the story of the bar incident, the coverage of it has gone worldwide. FTVLive has even been contacted by news outlets in Australia about the story.
As for WSAZ owner Gray, they have shown clearly how not to handle a situation like this. WSAZ has been anything but transparent in their dealing with the incident. Sources say that at first, the station had hoped to ignore the incident and hoped it would just blow over.
But, once FTVLive broke the story, it went worldwide in a matter of days. The station has not reported the incident on their air, or made any mention of the Anchors no longer working at the station.
Again, if this was a bar fight between the Mayor and the Police Chief, you can bet that the station would have been all over the story and reporting every detail. If WSAZ can’t report on their own they really shouldn’t be reporting on anyone else’s disputes.
BTW- Thanks to the NY Daily News for giving proper credit to FTVLive for our coverage. Our story was picked up around the world and most outlets gave FTVLive credit, while a few that lack integrity did not.
