Bouncing from the Burgh

After 5 years back anchoring the news in her hometown, WTAE’s Jackie Cain announced she was leaving the station and headed to Minneapolis.

Cain is headed to KSTP to anchor the 6 and 10PM newscast.

She posted the news to her social media:

KTSP Anchor Anchor Leah McLean, who had anchored the 5, 6 and 10, is now knocked down to just the 5PM newscast. It’s a move that she says she wanted, but we’re not sure we buy that. “This is something that I have been thinking about for quite some time, and I recently made the decision that I wanted to make this move. As a journalist, my first love is being in the middle of the action and seeing things as they happen up close,” McLean said. “I look forward to this new role where I can dig into issues and deliver stories that resonate with Minnesotans in our 10 p.m. newscast.”

As for Cain, some inside WTAE wonder if her leaving the station is a side effect of getting passed over for Wendy Bell's old newscasts. As you remember, Bell was fired for a Facebook post that many thought was racist.

“We could not be more pleased with the addition of Jackie Cain to our evening news team,” said Anne Wittenborg, KSTP News Director. “Jackie is looking forward to being a part of our community and excited to join Paul Folger, Dave Dahl, Joe Schmit and Leah McLean on the air.”
