Anchor Crosses the Line with Facebook Post
/KPSP/KESQ Anchor Kris Long is getting some well deserved criticism for a post he made to Facebook.
Long posted to Facebook his support and defense of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. He calls the claims of Kavanaugh’s sexual assault in high school as “misbehaving.”
“…. you are beyond dreaming if you think 17 year old boys are not going to misbehave from time to time as they begin to attempt relationships with the opposite sex. That is just the way we animals are made!” Long say in his post that has since been delated.
What the fuck?
I can assure you, both I and my friends were far perfect as kids and teenagers, but never did we assault a woman and that was not how we were made or brought up.
As for Brett Kavanaugh, this guy is trying to sit on the Supreme Court. If anyone should have a squeaky clean past, I think it should be the people that take up those 9 seats.
As a news anchor, Long’s job is to deliver the news and stay away from his opinion. He’s been around along enough to know that and yet his ego would not let him stop from chiming in.
If hearings on Kavanaugh’s appointment continue, can viewers trust that Long will present the story impartially?
I don’t think so.
But, Long was done there, he then wrote, “One thing for certain, I will never be nominated for the Supreme Court! Were that to happen, I have to admit they might have to enlarge the Senate hearing room to accommodate all the young woman from the mid to late 1960’s who felt I had tried to go a bit too far!”
So, let me get this straight, is he bragging? How many women did he try to take it “too far” with? Did he not learn? Should this be your main anchor?
So many questions.
Long deleted the post and wrote an apology after station management told him to do so. “Perhaps I may have broken our social media standards by putting my article a little bit too far to one side,” Long said.
Perhaps? You’re not sure?
Long said he stands by the remarks in his post, and believes they were fair, but would like to have emphasized in the post that he understands the trauma of sexual assault and the inability of some victims to report it initially. He said he believes rape is "one of the most heinous of crimes.”
But does he really? This story leaves me with more questions than answers.
“I wish I hadn’t a written (the post) because it’s caused me a lot of headache," he said.
I can assure you Kris, it dod the same for many women that read your post as well.
Here is a copy of the now delated post.
