Add Another One to the Mix

Yesterday, FTVLive told you that WVUE (New Orleans) was adding more news to their schedule.

They said it was for the viewers, but we didn't believe them.

Now, crosstown rival WDSU says that are going to revive its midday newscast.

"WDSU News at Noon" is officially set to debut Sept. 3, the local NBC affiliate has announced.

The hourlong show will be anchored by Charles Divins and Gina Swanson, with meteorologist Kweilyn Murphy on weather.

Divins and Murphy will continue their roles on "WDSU This Morning," which Divins anchors with Randi Rousseau, and Swanson will continue in her role as co-anchor of "WDSU News at 4" with Shaun Kraisman and "WDSU News at 6" with Sula Kim. Similarly, Murphy will continue her duties as WDSU's morning meteorologist.

In other words, they are adding news without adding bodies. And it will give them more space to sell political ads.

This is not about news as much as it is about money.

Welcome to the new era of TV news.
